Real Life vs. Swatching Only

Hey there!

I have an interesting Sunday question for everyone.

Do you prefer to see many many colors at once knowing that the person hasn't worn them for more than 15 minutes, or would you rather see how a polish holds up in real life?

I ask this because I am not a swatch blogger.  I don't have time right now to sit and paint my nails 10 times at once and only one hand a time.  I do a full mani, take my pictures and wear it. I wear it until it chips and then I change it.

I go about my business living my life not shying away from using my nails and just enjoying my polish. But sometimes I think, is this not enough?

Part of me says that people want to see colors, but the other part of me thinks that perhaps people want to know how well their polish is going to hold up. I say this because it may be all fine and well to spend $20 on one beautiful polish, but if it only lasts 6 hours what's the point.  I would want to know if it wasn't going to last.  Maybe then I would spend my money on something else that WOULD last.

This is also the reason why I don't have posts every single day, because I just don't change my polish that much.  I change it up three or four times a week.

For the record, I think swatching is GREAT.  I always look up collection swatches and swatches in general when I am shopping for polishes.  I just want to see if I should change my blog format and what people think in general about it.

SO, what so you?  Do you want swatches only or do you want to know how well it lasts?

  2. Real life! That's why most of my nail polish posts on my own blog are spread out. I normally only painty nails every weekend and then they have to hold up the work week. :-) I would love to see you post comparisons of the fresh mani and the wear you had.

    1. That's a great idea, to take a pic before I take it off. I will have to remember to do that and give it a shot!

  3. I would like real life on the more expensive brans (Chanel, Dior, etc) as if I'm going to spend that type of money, I want quality. As for drugstore brands, swatches are fine.

    1. You make a good point! I wouldn't mind if a two dollar polish only lasted two days, but I would NOT be happy with a $25 one that only lasted two days!!

  4. I hardly ever swatch multiple polishes at a time. Even when I get collections in to review I still wear them all. It takes me a bit longer to review but that's the way I like to do things. Plus I can be a terribly messy painter so I do a lot of clean up in the shower, picking off the messy bits. I say do what works for you.

    1. I am so glad to see someone out there similar to me. The ones I have gotten in for review I have worn as full manis. Nobody has sent me a full collection so I have been able to wear them without taking too much time.

  5. Swatches give me an idea of what colors actually look like, so it's helpful for people to do them. I do like real life manis, though. I like reading about the thought that goes into each one.

    1. I for sure look up swatches when I am looking into purchasing a color. But it is nice to see the thought process that goes with a mani. I never just pick a random color, there is always a lot of thought.

  6. I like both! And I would just do things whatever way you feel most comfortable with!

    1. Thanks, I am going to keep doing what I have been and maybe toss in some swatching if the opportunity comes up.

  7. To be completely honest, I follow a ton of nail blogs and most do collection swatches. While I do enjoy seeing the many different colors in the upcoming collections, it does get tiresome seeing the same swatches done on all the blogs at the same time. It is refreshing to see and read about polish quality and wear time as well as some nail art to break up the monotony of swatch postings. Thanks for asking :)
